The Best College Laptops Are Well Maintained Ones

I’ve talked about going out and shopping around for the best college laptops as well as what type of programs you may want to have on them. What many people may not understand is how to keep that unit in tip-top shape to have it run the best they can.

I’ve witnessed quite a few people who get their computer and just turn it on and go to work. When they finish, they just turn it off without a second thought of maintenance work. Every computer or laptop needs to be maintained periodically and many forget this simple rule. If you’re going to go through the trouble of researching the best laptops for college, you should take care it it.

Just because the laptop was running at peak performance when you first got it doesn’t mean it will stay that way. In this post I’ll give you some tips to help it run smoother and as good as it was when you bought it.

First, you must install a program that will take care of spyware as soon as it’s purchased. Some units will have a trial period program on it when you bought it, but my advice to you is to get the full subscription version of the program right a way. I use McAfee on all of my computers and laptops. I’ve never had a problem with them like I have with Norton. There are a few others out there that you can use, but I’m not familiar with them.

Something else that people don’t realize when they use their laptop is when they check their e-mail. There are too many marketers out there as well as spammers that will send you corrupted files or have embedded virus’ in the e-mail that will cause your unit to run slower or even crash. If you don’t know the person or if someone you do know is sending you a forwarded e-mail, my suggestion is to not open it. It’s not worth the joke or humor of a forwarded e-mail to jeopardize your computer or laptop.

The last thing that I’ll discuss in this post is to run scan disk once every two weeks to clean up the unnecessary files that build up in the laptop. As for defragmenting the unit, that should be done according to how much you do with you unit. The more you save to file or download software, the more you will need to do it.

These helpful tips will help you maintain the best college laptop.
